To get healthy and stay healthy

The 2017-18 season was absolutely miserable for the Houston Texans. Three of their best players in Deshaun Watson, J.J. Watt, and Whitney Mercilus were all injured as well as a host of other players. Those injuries played a major role in that terrible season and the team and fans, alike, were hoping for a healthier 2018-19 season.

Depending on how you look at it, this could have been better than last year’s or just about the same. The star power has stayed healthy, fortunately, but the ancillary role players have been the ones piling up the injuries.

The Texans secondary has been the biggest victim of injuries, seeing two cornerbacks, Kevin Johnson and Kayvon Webster, get placed on the injured reserve. However, they have also seen other guys miss weeks or more. Johnathan Joseph, Shareece Wright, and Aaron Colvin have all missed significant time.

On offense, starting right tackle Seantrel Henderson went down for the year in week one. Keke Coutee has struggled to make a major impact in his rookie campaign while dealing with a debilitating hamstring injury. Then there’s Will Fuller who still can’t catch a break, this time with a torn ACL.

However, the Texans have been able to get healthier as the season has gone on without losing any more players. They gained Dylan Cole back from injury, D’Onta Foreman has finally been activated and is working his way back to game shape, and Coutee could be back by the end of the season as well.

The Houston Texans need to pray and hope that they do not suffer any more injuries that could derail this great season. So, no more injuries, as well as getting guys healthy, should be nestled in amongst the top things on the team’s Christmas wish list.
