The Houston Texans nine-game winning streak was snapped against the Colts on Sunday. Here are three reasons why it wasn’t extended to ten games.

The Houston Texans hosted the Indianapolis Colts for their second matchup of the season on Sunday. Historically, the Texans have not fared well against the Colts. However, their week four matchup was won by the Texans and it spurred a nine-game winning streak that got us to week fourteen.

The Texans entered week fourteen riding this nine-game winning streak, sitting at 9-3 and first place in the division. Following the Titans win on Thursday night, the Colts entered the game 6-6 and in third place in the division. Even with that disparity, the division was and is still wide open. Any of those three teams could come away from this season division champs.

If the Texans won, however, the division would have been locked up and the Texans would have been crowned division champs with three weeks left in the season. Unfortunately, Houston was unable to take care of business and Indianapolis wound up winning the game 24-21.

As it stands, the Houston Texans still have a two-game lead in the AFC South and their playoff chances are still a near-virtual lock. However, the team hit a definite speed bump with this loss and the snapping of their nine-game winning streak. Their hopes of getting a first-round bye in the playoffs also took a shot with this loss as this was the perfect week to pounce since the Patriots also lost.

As great as it would have been to see the Texans winning streak be extended, it’s still an insane thought to think that a team that started 0-3 could be 9-4 heading into the final three weeks of the season. In any way, this was a disappointing loss so, let’s take a look at the three things that caused the Texans to have their nine-game winning streak snapped.
