Houston Texans rookie safety Justin Reid has had a fine season. Will it invoke Defensive Rookie of the Year Honors? Here are four candidates on his heels.

For the Houston Texans, to say that Justin Reid has impacted the team’s defensive mindset is just an understatement.  He has truly been a gem of that unit and each week he gains more confidence, trying to do something spectacular to help the team win.

He hates to make mistakes and he has even taken his frustrations social media outlets such as Twitter to let us know as he was reeling over a missed interception opportunity against the Tennessee Titans during Monday Night Football Nov. 26.

He remained positive though and cited the-then eight game win-streak as a badge of inspiration for not only his success but for the team as well.

The type of character he emanates truly embodies the type of players the Houston Texans acquire and I think he’ll be a fixture with the team for quite some time.

He has played well this season and has certainly exceeded my expectations on how quickly he was able to grasp things in Romeo Crennel’s system.  In retrospect, he has done so at a point that he’s certainly in the conversation for being the Defensive Rookie of the Year.

Reid currently has 48 tackles, three interceptions, one graceful 101-yard touchdown run, nine passes defensed, one tackle-for-loss and one quarterback hit.

There’s the numbers but does he have a chance?  Let’s take a look at the four guys whom he’s up against to determine his chances.
