Another player the Houston Rockets need to look at is Kelly Oubre Jr. from the Washington Wizards. The Wizards are, reportedly, willing to listen to offers on anyone including John Wall and Bradley Beal so, Oubre would, presumably, be available.

Oubre was a first-round pick just a few years ago in 2015. The Hawks originally selected him but subsequently sent him to Washington in a draft-day trade. He didn’t really play a lot his rookie season but he became a key part of their rotation in his sophomore campaign and has remained as such since then.

Oubre is well on his way to becoming a very solid three and d player, which may be a slight disappointment because of his draft spot but it’s a role that he can take that will give a long career in the NBA. The problem he currently has, however, is putting his entire game together consistently, game in, game out, year in, year out.

Also. Melo wasn't the only problem but removing him was the only answer. light

In the 2017-18 season, he shot 34% from three. This year, he’s currently shooting 29% from three. However, those aren’t too far apart, especially in terms of attempts and makes. Last year, he averaged 4.6 three-point attempts per game and made 1.6. This year, he is averaging the same number of attempts but is making them at a lower clip of 1.3 per game.

Oubre could just need a change of scenery to fully unlock his potential as a solid three and d player in this league. Under the tutelage of Mike D’Antoni‘s free shooting offense and Jeff Bzdelik’s excellent defensive coaching, Oubre could see a meteoric rise. A swap of Chriss attached with a second round pick or two could be enough to get Oubre away from Washington.
