Gary Clark, PF/SF

The Houston Rockets best move of the offseason very well may turn out to be scooping up Gary Clark after the draft as an undrafted free agent. He was a four-year player out of the University of Cincinnati that was extremely solid yet unspectacular but he has been invaluable to the team so far this season.

Clark is playing an average of almost 18 minutes per game currently but his playing time has been trending upwards the past couple of weeks. Per 100 possessions, Clark has been a monster. He’s averaging over ten points, eight rebounds, one steal, and two blocks. Clark is also knocking down threes at a 27.7% clip, which isn’t great but he’s trending up in that category as well as he’s getting more attempts.

More from House of Houston

One of the biggest things that Clark has brought this season has essentially been providing what Melo was supposed to provide except more in the vein of what the Rockets needed. He has tremendous three and d potential and as he develops and continues to get more reps that’ll be revealed even more.

The past couple of weeks, there has been a pretty eye-opening correlation with Clark’s play and the team’s success. When Clark gets over twenty minutes per game, it appears that the team has a greater chance to come away with the victory. When it’s under that, the team seems to have a lower win probability.

That alone, coupled with how his stats project over more playing time should give the Houston Rockets no choice but to extend his minutes on the court. Out of the three players on this list, Clark is without a doubt the most likely to be able to give this team a legitimate boost behind rest minutes for the studs.

It’ll be interesting to see how this Houston Rockets team responds to such a miserable first quarter of the season. Playing these three guys more could be a start but they may also need to look externally to get that big boost they’re currently needing.
