The Houston Rockets have been playing better but they still need to improve. Here are three unheralded players who could give the team a much-needed boost.

The Houston Rockets have not had the start to the season that many imagined they would. The vast majority of the free agent additions from the offseason have not panned out like the team hoped. Carmelo Anthony is no longer with the team while Michael Carter-Williams played his way out of the rotation.

The team appeared to be turning a corner before hitting another skid caused by some injuries and more inconsistent play. Chris Paul has been battling a slew of leg injuries that have now prevented him from playing a quarter of the season so far.

James Harden has still been playing very well, though, his percentages have dipped a little bit. Clint Capela has elevated his game to an all-star level while PJ Tucker has continued in his defensive prowess. So, the whole season has not been an entire dumpster fire. However, sitting at 9-11 in 14th place in the Western Conference is not a great start.

Another bright spot is that even though the Houston Rockets are sporting a losing record, they’re only three games behind the division leader and only a game and a half out of the top eight spots in the conference.

One of the reasons that the team has struggled is the major lack of depth currently on the roster. Mike D’Antoni acknowledged this issue after the Rockets collapsed against the Mavericks who are supposed to be a lesser team.

The team is looking to add depth externally, especially on the wing. However, they do have some internal options that they can utilize more in order to give this team a boost. Let’s take a look at three guys that fit that profile.
