The run game

First the run game, the Houston Texans are currently ranked #11 in rush yards per game and have improved throughout the season. Over the last three weeks, the Texans have averaged over 142 rush yards per game. They’re on pace for a vast improvement over last year’s rushing attack.

This has been a true team effort, as Lamar Miller has had big games, Alfred Blue has consistently made plays and Deshaun Watson has scrambled and rushed for some yards as well. The Texans rushing game will continue to improve because of two things.

The Texans after weeks of reworking their offensive line seem to have finally settled on the right combination. Julie’n Davenport moved back to left tackle, Kendall Lamm was promoted to starting right tackle while Nick Martin, Senio Kelemete, and Zach Fulton held down the interior. The offensive line has vastly improved in both pass protection and run blocking. The offensive line has, and will, continue to improve as they build more chemistry throughout the remaining regular season games.

Additionally, the Texans will get a new piece in D’Onta Foreman as the Texans have activated him from the PUP list. They have 21 days to officially reinstate him from the roster but expect to see him sooner rather than later.

The return of Foreman will give the Texans a power back who also has sneaky speed. The Texans are trying to be cautious with Foreman and will make sure he is in shape before he gets back on the field. Once he is back, he will take the early down runs and will allow Lamar to be the change of pace/third down back.
