Charlie Morton

Position: Starting RHP
2018 Salary: $8.875 Million
Seeking Estimate: $15 million/year
Possible Landing Spots: Braves, Red Sox, Dodgers

He was the hero of World Series Game 7 in 2017. Essentially, the proverbial cap put in place for the Houston Astros to win their very first championship. Now, Charlie Morton is also apart of the Free Agent Class and testing the market waters as well.

I foresee the organization going after him the hardest as far as pitching is concerned. Mainly, it is due to the heroics he put on display to secure that Game 7 win. However, the National League may end up welcoming him back. Specifically, the team that drafted him, the Atlanta Braves.

After winning their first division title in 5 years, the Braves will be going hard for pitching upgrades. Morton fits everything they are looking for. But don’t sleep on either team from the 2018 World Series to try and snag him. Those being the Boston Red Sox or the Los Angeles Dodgers.

Tony Sipp

Position: Relieving LHP
2018 Salary: $6 million
Seeking Estimate: $8-10 million/year
Possible Landing Spots: Mariners, Twins, Orioles

Tony Sipp has had some command issues in the past. However, his 1.86 ERA in 2018 will be very attractive to a lot of teams. Specifically, ones that are in rebuild mode like the Minnesota Twins and the Baltimore Orioles.

Additionally, the Seattle Mariners may try to get him to keep him in the AL West and face his former team a number of times throughout the season. With Sipp being a real threat out of the bullpen, any of the three aforementioned teams will have a need for him.

If not, perhaps a dark horse somewhere in the National League could use his services. If pressed, I would guess either the Braves, Cardinals or the Cubs would be that team.
