D’Onta Foreman, RB

When the Houston Texans drafted D’Onta Foreman in the third round of the 2017 draft out of Texas, he was fresh off a 2,000+ yard season on 6.3 yards per carry. He also rushed for 15 touchdowns in his junior year as well.

It was one of the best seasons from a running back that college football had seen in a long time. The Texans obviously agreed, otherwise they wouldn’t have drafted him in the third round. Foreman came into last season expecting to get change of pace duty from Lamar Miller but at times he actually outshown Miller.

Foreman’s stats don’t jump off the page from his rookie year but his impact was definitely felt and he was just started to hit his stride in the pros in the final weeks of the season before he, unfortunately, ruptured his Achilles tendon. Foreman finished the season with 327 yards on 4.2 yards per carry, and two touchdowns.

Miller shed some weight in order to become more agile and explosive, and he definitely looks so this season. He started the year off hot against the Patriots but then appeared to fall back into mediocrity in the following weeks. However, he has ripped off two 100+ yard games in the past three weeks followed by a major dud against the Broncos.

Foreman’s injury also forced the Houston Texans to resign Alfred Blue for this season. He has been woefully consistent, providing some thunder to Miller’s lightning. He had one great game against the Cowboys but besides that, he’s provided quite a few yawns. Blue has been able to rip off a few chunk plays running up the middle behind a line that’s been surprisingly adept in the run game.

Foreman is a great combination of thunder and lightning. He can exploit big chunk plays straight up the middle and ripping off gains off of the edge. He’s started practicing again which means he has about to two weeks left, now, before the Texans have to activate him. So, he may not come back right after the bye but expect him to be back and running full of steam by the playoffs.
