Perez would be an immediate fit into the team

The Houston Astros core of players consists of young guys who absolutely love the game of baseball and love playing together. Alex Bregman, Carlos Correa, George Springer, and Jose Altuve are the main guys in this core and represent these values well.

Perez fits those same values in playing the game. Just watching him play, it’s easy to tell that he just loves to play the game of baseball and plays it with the same swagger and passion that permeate the Astros dugout.

The 28-year-old catcher also already has key ties to the Astros could help him fit in better and faster than any other external option. You see, Perez and our very own Altuve grew up in the same community in Venezuela and have been best friends ever since.

Being born mere days apart, Perez and Altuve have been teammates for a long, long time. They’ve gotten to be teammates once a year again for the past five seasons in the All-Star game on the AL side of the diamond.

This friendship would surely be able to carry over to the rest of the Astros team and the team chemistry wouldn’t miss a step. That, on top of Perez’s reputation as a teammate should help him fit in just fine and gives the Astros another reason to attempt to pluck Perez out of the Midwest.
