There is a thick layer of rust but it’ll be shaken off

This Houston Rockets squad looked rust-ee Tuesday night. There is simply no other way to put it besides that. Only four players posted a positive +/- against the Pelicans and it just so happens those four guys played the smallest amount of minutes.

Isaiah Hartenstein and Gary Clark posted a positive +/- but only played two minutes combined. MCW played 17 minutes and Gerald Green played 10 minutes and they also both posted a positive +/-. Beyond that, the best +/- was Ennis with a -5.

As I mentioned previously, Harden and Paul had fairly decent nights but it was also subpar by both of their standards. Harden was off with his shooting stroke and didn’t get to the line as often as he was accustomed to.

Three reasons why Capela will be a top three center. light. Must Read

Capela also had a very poor night which was seen in a worse light due to his new contract. He only posted eight points and eight rebounds and only one block. If the Rockets are going to stay atop the hierarchy with this new team, Capela needs to shake off his rust.

Really, everyone needs to get better after game one and shake off their thick layer of rust. However, all of these guys have been pros for a long, long time and they’ve been there and done that several times. There is no reason to doubt this team won’t shake off their rust and bounce in short order.
