This one may be more of a stretch but Shon Coleman has shown a ton of potential previously. The Browns drafted Coleman in the third round of the 2016 draft out of Auburn. Coleman has overcome a lot in his playing current, including a long battle with cancer.

Coleman played sparingly in 2016 for the Browns and performed well in what turned out to be a very small sample size. However, he had a strong offseason in 2017 and won the starting right tackle job. He played over a 1,000 snaps and graded out above average as a starter.

After Joe Thomas abruptly retired this offseason, the Browns held an open competition to figure out who his replacement would be. Coleman was a favorite early on but fell off the closer the season got and the Browns brass favored a younger guy.

More. Texans should demote Nick Martin and start Greg Mancz. light

The Browns then flipped Coleman to the 49ers for a 2019 seventh round pick. There, Coleman is the understudy to the stalwart Joe Staley. Staley is now the second future Hall of Famer that Coleman has studied under. Which can’t do anything but help.

Coleman probably would be the cheapest of these three options. With the 49ers sitting at 1-5 and Staley going nowhere anytime soon they could be inclined to trade Coleman. Will Coleman evolve into a top five tackle? Probably not but he surely couldn’t be worse than Davenport and Rankin. With Coleman’s price tag potentially so low, why not kick the tires?
