This past weekend was terrific for Houston Sports. The happenings were enough to warrant big storylines that fans must follow. What are they? Here’s three.

As last Monday kicked off, Houston Sports fans had a lot to be excited about for the upcoming weekend. Not only were the Astros in the playoffs once again, but the Rockets were beginning the preseason with Carmelo Anthony and the Texans were hosting the Dallas Cowboys. What wound up happening was possibly a weekend that showed the outsiders about the reason why Houston is in fact, a legitimate sports town now.

What a weekend we had folks in Houston Sports. Would one have ever imagined a time where the city of Houston would not only have a baseball team as defending World Series champions playing a tough playoff series and wrecking havoc? Could anyone have even dreamed of seeing a superstar joining fellow superstars on a basketball with the reigning MVP? Did it ever occur that a football team would shock the most valuable sports franchise in the world and a marketing brand in front of a nationwide audience?

It’s going to be difficult to look back on great sports weekends in Houston and determine which one was the best. But this past weekend (we’re counting Monday since it was Columbus Day) has to be ranked right up there. Why? Well, Houstonians know about their sports teams like the back of their head that no one seemed to think could be a possibility. That is that Houston Sports has three legitimate franchises capable of bringing home titles. How many other cities can say that?

Boston? Maybe!

Philadelphia? Maybe!

Chicago? Nope

Los Angeles? Uhhhh! I don’t think so!

New York? …..

What did this weekend mean to Houstonians?

Houston Sports fans — this weekend meant a lot to Houstonians in a lot of ways. Each team had to make a statement and they came through in a big way. They appeared on national TV and showed the rest of the world what Houston Sports is all about. Most importantly, it was just another reminder of how good life is in Houston.

Okay! So not everything is perfect. The Texans are 2-3 while the Rockets are in preseason mode. The Dynamo did win the U.S Open Cup recently, which is good for Houston. Which leaves the best team in Texas still in play. No, it’s not the Dallas Cowboys. It’s the Houston Astros, who are now in the American League Championship Series waiting to see if Boston or New York takes them on.

But even if the weekend wasn’t all roses and sweet sugar, it does have an impact as a weekend that Houston Sports can’t be taken lightly anymore.  After an amazing weekend this city has witnessed here are three storylines that you must follow from here on out.

Not sure what I mean by that? Let me break it down for you in three segments. We begin with the franchise that started the run of us being a great sports city.  Still can’t figure it out?  Take a look.
