Houston Astros: Three reasons to root for the Red Sox against the Yankees
By T.A. Mock
The Houston Astros have finished off the Cleveland Indians, now fans should be paying attention to the other ALDS. Here are three reasons why you should root for the Red Sox over the Yankees.
Well, ladies and gentlemen, the Houston Astros are officially one step closer to repeating as World Champs. They took care of the Cleveland Indians in three straight wins in the ALDS, the third coming yesterday afternoon.
Game three of the ALDS was more tense to start off. Mike Clevinger was throwing some great pitches but the Astros were making him work for and he threw a bunch of pitches. Eventually, they chased him from the game and the runs started pouring in.
George Springer belted two homers, his second and third of the postseason and ninth and tenth of his playoff career. Marwin Gonzalez continued his playoff hot streak and delivered three RBIs. Even Carlos Correa got in on the action with a three-run home run off of Brad Hand for his first hit of the postseason.
Dallas Keuchel pitched a very solid game for the Astros and was eventually replaced by Collin McHugh who also threw some glorious innings in relief. All in all, it was an outstanding performance to power this team to victory to advance to the ALCS.
Yesterday’s win was a bit more challenging because the Indians were in panic, win or go home mode. However, the team was able to come out on top and now they have a few days of extra rest before taking on either the Yankees or the Red Sox in the last step before the World Series.
One of those two would be a much better opponent for the Houston Astros than the other. That team would be the Boston Red Sox even though they had baseball’s best record this year. So, let’s take a look at three reasons why Boston is the better matchup for Houston and their quest to repeat as champions.
