Keke Coutee provided the Houston Texans with something they haven’t had before, a multidimensional slot receiver. This welcomed addition will take the Texans offense to that next level and here is why.

In his Houston Texans debut, Keke Coutee had 11 catches and 109 yards (This is with a couple of concentration drops, throws that will be routine for him in the near future). Keke made big plays and was one of the main reasons the team won their first game of the season.

One of the reasons why Keke is going to make this offense more explosive is because of his YAC (yards after catch) abilities. Keke caught multiple passes in front of the first down marker, made someone miss and gained the first down. This is something the Texans could not do prior to his arrival.

This is HUGE for the Houston Texans because of their offensive line and running play so far in the season. The Texans offensive line has been below average and this has encouraged teams to constantly blitz and try to sack Deshaun Watson, which they have succeeded in so far.

With Keke doing what he did against the Colts, it will force teams not to blitz as much. However, if they do it will help the offensive line because they will not have to consistently block for so long. This will, in effect, make the Texans offensive line look and play better.

Additionally, Keke looks like he will be making an impact in the run game as well. Against the Colts, he ran multiple sweeps around the corner for first downs. This is great because the Texans running backs have struggled to gain first downs consistently so far this season.

Now on to the biggest reason why I think Keke will take the Texans offense to the next level… The deep ball!

In his debut, most of his catches were short to intermediate catches. Now Keke is one of the Texans starting wide receivers, so his main objective is to provide Watson with a quick outlet.

However, if you watched him ball out at Texas Tech, you know he loves going deep and he will be given the opportunity to go deep in this offense. Especially when Will Fuller or DeAndre Hopkins is in the slot.

Once Keke gets more comfortable in this offense, Deshaun will legitimately have 3 wide receivers that can beat defenses in the short, intermediate and deep pass game.

Keke Coutee will have a Tyreek Hill like effect on the Houston Texans offense and the NFL should be on the lookout for this offense to be one of the best in the NFL.
