The Houston Astros launch four bombs
Man, oh man! The Houston Astros‘ bats were HOT this afternoon! In total, the team collected ten hits and seven runs in eight innings of baseball. No Indians pitcher was immune to the Astros in game one.
Kluber managed to get through three innings of baseball in 33 pitches with minimal damage done against him. Then the fourth inning rolled around. The Astros only scored two runs in the fourth but made Kluber pitch 35 pitches. Alex Bregman launched his first home run of the playoffs and Josh Reddick knocked in his first RBI.
Then, to finish Kluber off, George Springer and Jose Altuve went BACK-TO-BACK. Bregman and Springer both launched absolute bombs and Altuve barely snuck his into the corner of the Crawford Boxes, but a home run is a home run.
However, the onslaught didn’t end there. Reddick and Bregman both tacked on another RBI and Yuli Gurriel knocked in a run as well. But, not to be outdone, Martin “Machete” Maldonado blasted a home run of his own to extend the league.
Having the bats come alive in game one of the playoffs is a huge win for this team. It allowed the entire team to get in a rhythm and should set the tone for the rest of the playoffs.
