The Houston Astros successfully took care of the Cleveland Indians in game one of the ALDS. Let’s take a look at three takeaways from this victory.

That’s a wrap! Game one of the ALDS is officially over. The Houston Astros successfully took care of a strong Cleveland Indians team in a 7-2 win. Quite frankly, it was a game that saw the Astros dominate all nine innings.

As we’ve discussed before, these two teams have two of the best starting pitching staffs in the entire league, maybe even the top two staffs. Corey Kluber and Justin Verlander demonstrated that for a little bit before the Astros’ bats eventually won out but more on that later.

This game went down almost as ideally as possible. The Houston Astros bats were alive and the pitching was very, very good. After the team began to get going, you could see what little jitters there were shake off. The fun and success then began to spread to the entire team.

The Astros and Indians will face off in game two tomorrow afternoon at 3:37 pm CT. You can also once again catch the game on TBS. Gerrit Cole will take the mound for the Astros against Carlos Carrasco of the Indians. The team will then travel to Cleveland on Sunday for a midday Monday matchup.

But, for now, let’s take a look at three takeaways from this first victory. There is a lot that the team can build off heading into game two where the Indians will be very eager to try to head back to Cleveland with the series tied up 1-1.
