Houston Texans: The good, the bad, the ugly from week four
By T.A. Mock
Injuries keep piling up
Another year, another batch of injuries. I don’t know what it is but the Houston Texans can’t seem to escape the injury bug. The severity of the injuries from today is not yet known but the fact that two key offensive players, Lamar Miller and Will Fuller, could not return to the game is troublesome.
Fuller went down with a hamstring injury after catching yet another touchdown from Watson. Fuller has had a hard time staying healthy in his career so whenever he goes down it is extra concerning. He’s worked his way to being an extremely reliable and favorite target when on the field.
Miller appeared to get banged up earlier in the game and never reentered as Alfred Blue finished the game for the Texans. No injury has been announced for Miller as of yet but running Blue over Miller doesn’t seem like a desired choice.
Other injuries included Senio Kelemete leaving for a bit and Kendall Lamm going down in over time. Aaron Colvin also went down in overtime, not much is known about his injury as well.
Inconsistent protection
At times, this offensive line unit looked somewhat capable in protection. Then at other times, it’s like they all got together and decided to take a break from protecting their teammates in the backfield.
Kendall Lamm drew the start at right tackle after Julien Davenport‘s horrendous performance last week. He appeared to play pretty well overall in both run and pass protection. But, like everyone else, Lamm had his highs and lows.
All and all, six sacks in regulation is still extremely unacceptable. Watson deserves better than that and this franchise needs to get things figured out on this side of the trenches if they really want Watson to stay their cornerstone QB.
