Houston Astros: Top 10 moments of the 2018 regular season
#4 Alex Bregman Wins All-Star Game MVP
For Alex Bregman, the 2018 All-Star Weekend was an experience that would elevate him from All-Star to Superstar. The fact that it also happened to be at Washington D.C, where his family played a part in the Washington Senators being in D.C along with Ted Williams as a manager before they moved to become the Texas Rangers was just as cool. Yet, no one had more fun at the All-Star game then Mr. Bregman.
So he nearly came back to beat Kyle Schwarber of the Cubs in the first round of the home run derby. But it would be Bregman would have the last laugh. In rematch between managers A.J Hinch and Dave Roberts, the All-Star Game was becoming a classic as there were nine homers all-game long. The National League had just tied the game at 5 going into extra innings. Running out of pitchers, someone had to step up or else, the game could end in another dreadful tie.
Then, Mr. Bregman delivered with a solo homer to put the American League All-Stars ahead. Up next was George Springer, who also went deep to go back-to-back. The AL won 8-6 and Bregman was named the Astros’ first-ever All-Star Game MVP. To be honest, Springer and Bregman should’ve been co-MVPs.
One final note, the losing pitcher was a Dodger. For fans of that team, it was another horrible nightmare, which was about to get worse.
