Houston Astros: Top 10 moments of the 2018 regular season
#8 Undefeated Road Trip
Usually, for a road trip, the Houston Astros would hope to pick up at least seven of 10 games played. Anytime you win more games on the road, it helps the team’s confidence to go back home, refuel, and go on the road to do it again. However, in this particular instance, the Astros went out and won ten straight on the road.
But what happened on this particular road trip was something I’m not sure anyone expected. Starting the stretch with a win against the Mariners at home the day before, the Astros would go to Arlington to sweep the Rangers and also win the Silver Boot for the second year in a row.
Then, they went out west to Oakland and took three straight there from a division rival before going to the midwest and sweeping the Royals. This road trip saw some unique things take place that allowed the team to win ten straight.
There was the aforementioned balk that won the game for the Astros against Texas. Evan Gattis also emerged and was named American League Player of the Week. Coincidentally, this also happened during a week when Mike Trout got red hot. So for Gattis to win the honor to the disgust of Angels fans, really proves that any one of the guys are capable of winning the honor.
