Huge news dropped late Saturday evening as the Browns are releasing WR Josh Gordon on Monday. Here is why the Houston Texans should go after him.

The news is surprising to many as Josh Gordon was supposed to be the 1-2 punch in Cleveland with Jarvis Landry. But, it didn’t work out. Let’s dive into how he could fit with the Houston Texans.

Josh Gordon will not be playing this weekend as he is dealing with a foot injury, but last week he came out for his first play of the 2018 season and it was TD over a Steelers defender. The catch looked promising to Browns fan as Josh Gordon had reinvented himself during the offseason to get away from his troubled past.

As the Browns get ready for New Orleans, Adam Shefter tweets out that he will be released.

Must Read. Two things Texans fans deserve to not see ever again. light

If they are releasing him because he is about to get suspended, then obviously the Texans should pass. But if they are just simple releasing him for no reason, the Houston Texans should DEFINITELY go after Josh Gordon. Why?

Josh Gordon is a hometown kid, born and raised in Houston and played at Lamar High School. Deshaun Watson needs a good wideout who creates separation and is never hurt.

Will Fuller has been constantly been injured ever since he stepped in the league and Ellington’s health is also a concern and drops passes from QB’s. As great as DeAndre Hopkins is he isn’t quick like Josh Gordon where he can get away from double teams. Which is why Gordon has the nickname “Flash” because of his quickness.

If we add Gordon he will really take the heat off of Hopkins and Fuller as it will open up a lot of space.

Coming here will also help him off the field. Tyrann Matheiu has a history of crime and was kicked off the LSU Football team at one time. Ever since, he has cleaned up his act and has become a really good person in the communities. Tyrann is a leader and I believe that it will ware off on Josh Gordon if he comes here.

However, as Gordon will be released he will be going through waivers. The waivers will or in the order of the draft no matter what happened to the pick. That means the Texans will have a shot to pick him up if he falls to us at 4. If all the teams pass on him, he will become a free agent and will have a choice on where he goes.

The Texans will be facing the Tennessee Titans on Sunday and if in that game Ellington continues to drop passes, I would defiantly drop him and add Josh Gordon.

*UPDATE* Word just came out from Adam Shefter that teams are actively calling the Browns to get a trade for Josh Gordon. NFL Network said that 6 team have already called. I wouldn’t doubt that the Cowboys and Jaguars are in the hunt for him also due to the thin talent at WR for them. The Texans could certainly be one of those teams, GM Brian Gaine has been a complexly different GM compared to Rick Smith when it comes to bringing in players with baggage. If no one gets a trade for him and he goes to waivers, then the Texans will have a excellent shot at acquiring him.

Next. Three players who need to improve in week two. dark

In 2013, Josh Gordon put up 87 receptions, 1646 yards and 9 TDs in just 14 games. His QB’s were Brandon Weeden and Jason Campbell. This kid has talent and if he could do that with those QB’s imagine what he could do with a QB like Watson.
