Starter: Chris Paul
Chris Paul got a shiny, brand-spanking new max contract during the offseason. This deal was a foregone conclusion after the Houston Rockets traded for him last offseason. He meshed with Harden better than most could even imagine.

After a full year together, he and Harden should reach new heights as a backcourt duo. In fact, they may be one of the best backcourt duos to ever do it. If not, they’re definitely one of the best passing duos this league has ever seen. Though, Paul has a red flag next to his name for now because he is injury prone and is on a deal that keeps him here until he is almost 38. However, the Rockets shouldn’t have to worry about that for a year or two.
Reserves: Brandon Knight, Michael Carter-Williams
Brandon Knight was the money portion of the deal that shed the Rockets of Ryan Anderson’s contract. However, he could turn out to be more than a cash dump. Knight has dealt with a lot of injuries but he gives the Rockets a ball handling insurance policy like they’ve never had and the rest of his game is pretty decent too.
Michael Carter-Williams likely won’t see the court much. However, in a backcourt that has seen a ton of injuries between Gordon, Knight, and Paul, he provides some nice, extra insurance. He is an excellent ball handler and distributor and provides solid defense. He won’t contribute much with his scoring but in a pinch, he’ll be just what this team needs.

There has been talk in recent weeks about whether or not this team is better than last year’s. Time will tell if that statement is true or not but, it is fairly obvious that this team is extremely talented and well suited for the schemes they plan to run.
