The Houston Rockets training camp is on the horizon and with Daryl Morey having plenty of assets, he’s got itchy trigger fingers for a move. What’s up?

The Houston Rockets are certainly ready to avenge their 65-win season, an unparalleled mark that is certainly an indicator that this team is destined to do great things.  If it weren’t for a few mishaps, this team may be talking about the championship title they won instead of a Western Conference thud that sounded like a ton of bricks.

Everything was in the right place until that one moment late in Game 5 when Chris Paul was shaking defenders out his boots and then started to grimace in pain, holding onto this hamstring as a result of it being strained.  Although there was plenty of optimism in our hearts, we knew the season was over at that point.

Paul valiantly tried to play the final two games of the series but just couldn’t and we watched the Houston Rockets transmogrify into a well-oiled machine to a sputtering jalopy, vastly depending on mundane, unproductive isolation plays by James Harden.

And that’s pretty much how the 2017-18 season ended, with all of us wondering what could have been.

But with Houston Rockets general manager Daryl Morey — now going into his 12th season at the helm — hard at work to improve this team even more, this team is ready to compete as a big dog this season as well.

Must Read. A Trevor Ariza return the Rockets may be sooner than you think. light

Morey re-signed Chris Paul to a four-year, $160 million max contract, allowed Trevor Ariza and Luc Mbah a Moute to be jettisoned in free agency and were able to acquire Carmelo Anthony, James Ennis and Michael Carter-Williams to replace what was lost.

In addition, he was able to pull of the unthinkable — trading Ryan Anderson and 2018 second-

round pick De’Anthony Melton for veteran guard Brandon Knight and Marquese Chriss, a high first-round pick in 2016.  There’s plenty of upside of what the Houston Rockets received in return but you know Morey is never satisfied.

Morey told Mark Berman of FOX 26 (KRIV) that the team still owns all of their future draft picks and if the opportunity presents itself, he’ll be inclined to make another move.

Gosh — I certainly hope so.  I think the Houston Rockets are stacked but I think one more pivotal player would certainly help this team get to the promised land.

Houston Rockets fans — you’ve heard me loud and clear in regard to bringing Ken Bazemore into the fold as he’s a quick, rough-and-ready defender that could hit the three-ball on demand.

He’s the type of player that could drastically change things for this roster in the wing department but it’s all a matter of finding out what the Atlanta Hawks want and can they whet their appetite with the assets that they have in store.

We’ll have to see if such a move is made but I’m pleased with I’ve seen so far this off season but I’m positive that this team can do better in terms of bringing additional help to put this team over the top.

Despite what some national reporters think about the Rockets trying skirt the luxury tax and build on the cheap — *cough* *cough* Tim Bontemps — I think the efforts are earnest and we’re going to be proud of the product that’s on the floor come Opening Night at Toyota Center next month.

Make the call and make the move Morey!
