The Houston Astros wrapped up a weekend series against the Boston Red Sox on a high note. They’ve proved they’re ready for the playoffs so, how’s the rotation going to shake out in the playoffs? Let’s take a look.

The Houston Astros entered the weekend facing off against the best team in baseball, at least record-wise, in the Boston Red Sox. The A’s, on the other hand, had a series against the Rangers. So, it appeared that the A’s were set to gain ground for the division lead.

However, the Astros showed up and showed out in Boston by taking two of three in the series against the MLB-best Red Sox. The first two games they won fairly handily and the third game was lost in controversy. In doing so, they’ve kept a 2.5 game lead over the A’s, who now enter into a more difficult stretch.

The Houston Astros, in this series with the Red Sox, have proved that they are ready for the playoffs. They battled hard to come back being down a few runs, they piled it on when they needed to, they rallied when they needed to, and they’ve locked down games when they needed to.

The Astros currently have way more pitchers on their active roster than they’ll carry into the postseason. In likelihood, the Astros will repeat the formula they had going last year and carry 14 hitters and 11 pitchers into the postseason.

The Astros have a ton of good quality arms across their starting rotation and in the bullpen. Figuring out who should make it and who shouldn’t will be a chore but, it’s a chore the team will gladly take on. So, let’s take a look at how the pitching rotation will shake out.
