Player #2: Senio Kelemete

The Houston Texans went out and spent a little money on some free agent offensive linemen which include Zach Fulton, Seantrel Henderson and last but not least Senio Kelemete.  A natural guard that held a variety roles in a reserve role with the New Orleans Saints, Kelemete has been called upon to provide some stability on the offensive line which is anything but the aforementioned.

The Houston Texans signed him to a three-year, $12 million deal with $5 million guaranteed this past off season.

I’m sure at this point in his career, he’s ready to embrace a larger role as a pro but his performance so far the preseason has been less than stellar.  He’s going to be relied upon heavily to protect Watson in the pocket.

It’s expected that he’ll be the starting left guard for the Houston Texans, replacing the under-performing — and unemployed — Xavier Su’a-Filo.  There’s no question that he will be a breath of fresh air in comparison to his counterpart but I certainly hope to see — and I think I will — some elongated results in this matchup against the Pats this Sunday.

Through 45 snaps, PFF has Kelemete scoring the lowest in pass protection among all members of the team through the preseason.  He appeared in the first three games and received a grade of a 46.5.  The 8.3 grade he received against the Los Angeles Rams — his last appearance in exhibition — did not help his cause but I’m feeling this guy is going to be one of the first on the rebound.

He allowed four pressures in total — two hurries and two quarterback pressures — in the off season.  He’s got a lot of work to do in terms of redeeming himself but what not a better opportunity than against the Pats?

I’m hoping for the best.
