Houston Texans: 2018 consensus regular season award predictions
By T.A. Mock
Most Valuable Player: Deshaun Watson (4 votes)
Others receiving votes: DeAndre Hopkins (3 votes)
This one was close and has an extra vote from the social media fan/reader vote. Watson won in a landslide on both Facebook and Twitter. It’s a good thing we ran the fan/reader vote because having a tie at the MVP spot would be no fun.
Whitaker notes that, as last year proved, the Texans are going to rise and fall with Watson. Last season could’ve been very different had he stayed healthy all year long. Gracia points out that a good QB will always be the team MVP, which is a sad but true statement.

The biggest point of evidence for Watson winning team MVP is the fact that Hopkins had a phenomenal amount of success even after Watson went down. He had nearly 1,400 yards and caught 13 touchdowns with extremely poor quarterback play. Yes, that shows how good of a wide receiver Hopkins is but, it also shows how valuable Watson is to this team.
O’Brien has also been working on adapting the offense to better fit this personnel’s skillset. That should maximize both Hopkins and Watson’s skill set and they should be able to ball out within this system.
But, at the end of the day, quarterback is king and Deshaun Watson will walk away with the team MVP. He’s a stud and should lead this team to a pretty great turnaround.
