Houston Texans: 5 players on the bubble that need to make the roster
By T.A. Mock
Joel Heath, DE
Joel Heath has been a major bright spot for this Houston Texans team over the past year. He played very well for the Texans last year down the stretch, especially as the injuries piled up. After going undrafted out of Michigan St, he’s simply been a stud on this unit.

Heath is on the roster bubble simply because the Texans have great depth along the defensive line. The starting unit will be JJ Watt, DJ Reader, and Christian Covington. Behind them are several guys are competing for roles and there is no telling how many guys the team will look to keep.
Carlos Watkins is another guy that has played very well and he seems destined for a roster spot. Brandon Dunn and Angelo Blackson are two other guys who have played well enough to earn a roster spot. Unfortunately, there isn’t room for all of these guys on the roster.
However, Heath should have one of these roles locked down. He is big and strong off of the edge. Heath can play the run well and get after the passer as a secondary rusher as well. He is surprisingly quick for his size to boot. Heath has earned this spot and will produce for this team.
All five of these guys should make the roster but, they’re on the bubble for a reason. So, it’ll be interesting to see what the Houston Texans end up doing come Saturday afternoon.
