The Houston Texans need to cut down the rosters in a matter of days as the preseason is coming to a close. Here are five guys that are on the bubble that need to make the cut.

The preseason is coming to a close and that means football is officially almost back with the regular season about a week away. All that stands in the way of the Houston Texans facing off against the Patriots is a tilt against the Cowboys to finalize the last few roster spots.

The Texans have until September 1st, this Saturday, at 3:00 p.m. central time to reduce their roster to 53 men. It is always challenging to cut down a roster as there are older guys who have balled out that will barely miss it and there are younger guys who will struggle to adjust and miss it.

There were guys who entered the offseason programming with zero worries about keeping their job. There were guys who came in not sure they’d make it out of the week. Regardless, Bill O’Brien, Brian Gaine, and the rest of the staff have spent the past few months evaluating the roster and now, it’s coming to fruition.

There are guys who have played their ways into being about as close to a lock as you can get. Troymaine Pope is one of those guys. He’s played very well but, D’Onta Foreman isn’t ready to come back yet from his Achilles injury. Other “close to a lock” guys are Corey Moore, Sammie Coates, Joe Webb, and Carlos Watkins.

So, without further adieu, let’s take a look at five guys who are on the bubble that need to make this team.
