Starters: Whitney Mercilus, Jadeveon Clowney

Mercilus was one of the Houston Texans stars that went down for the year last season. He tore his pectoral muscle which is always a precarious injury but, he appears to be 100% recovered from that. Unfortunately, he is battling a hamstring injury right now but, he should be ready for week one.

Clowney is once again battling another injury but he appears to be ready to start the season. This will be a big year for him because he has yet to net a contract extension. He’ll have his best year as he looks for that big money.

Reserves: Duke Ejiofor, Peter Kalambayi, Brennan Scarlett

Ejiofor is going to be a monster off the bench for the Houston Texans. He has a great future on the edge for the Texans. He has more athleticism than advertised and pairs it with phenomenal technique off the edge. He’s a dark horse candidate for a double-digit sack season.

Kalambayi and Scarlett get the last two outside linebacker spots for this team. They both offer good versatility and some decent pass rushing ability off of the bench. They won’t be world beaters but, they’ll provide the depth the team needs. Ufomba Kamalu could take one of those spots as well.
