Houston Texans: Predicting the final 53 man roster
By T.A. Mock
Starter: Deshaun Watson
This is simple. Deshaun Watson proved his worth last year when he took the NFL by storm. He was on pace for nearly 5,000 total yards and over 50 total touchdowns. When Watson is healthy for entire seasons, he’ll be a perennial MVP candidate. He is that good.
Watson looks all systems go for week one. The last time he faced the Patriots he nearly beat them. If he could start off 2018 on a similar note, it would be a great start to the season.
Reserves: Brandon Weeden, Joe Webb
As of right now, three quarterbacks will make this roster and three quarterbacks very well may make the active game roster. Weeden is the first off the bench, he knows the system but, that’s about his only positive.
Webb is interesting as a quarterback in spite of not playing a ton in his career. He also has added value on special teams. He has returned kicks before and can be an asset on coverage teams with his speed and strength.
It would be shocking, though, if the Houston Texans don’t try to upgrade this as cuts start to role around.
