Houston Texans: 3 things to watch against the 49ers in the second preseason game
3. This linebacker squad is incredibly deep
This very well might be the best ILB trio in all of football at the end of this season. I cannot tell you how happy I was to watch this group do their drills on Wednesday. They fly around the football field, making plays left and right, it was outstanding.
The Houston Texans got an absolute in the draft last year when they selected Zach Cunningham. I enjoyed watching him do drills on Wednesday. He’s a lanky guy and as quick as a fox. He’s also been working on his strength and could really break out this year.

Dylan Cole is also fun to watch. Last year he really made a name for himself as an undrafted rookie out of Colorado. This kid is literally everywhere on the field and as a Houston Texans fan, you gotta love that.
Last year at when the Texans played the Browns, I’m pretty sure he went downfield 20 yards and got a huge INT that game. Cole proves how good our scouting is, the fact that he was undrafted is beyond me. The team definitely found a needle in a haystack.
Another guy I like is 6th rounder, Duke Ejiofor. He was a man on a mission last week and I expect him to have another big-time performance Saturday night. He will make the 53 man roster for sure. He has excellent pass rushing skills and will provide excellent depth.
Bernardrick McKinney is huge in person. He’s a bigger guy than Cole and Cunningham by far. He had to take on a leadership role last year and he excelled. McKinney seems ready to prove that he’s worth the contract extension he received this offseason. I think he will have a stellar year as he will fill the shoes of Cushing.
Remember, the Houston Texans kick off against the San Francisco 49ers tonight at 7:00 p.m. Central Time. Locals can catch the game on ABC 13.
