Houston Rockets: 3 reasons why the Melo-MDA sequel will be better

Carmelo Anthony has been coached by Mike D’Anonti before when they were with the Knicks. Let’s take a look at three reasons why their attempt with Houston Rockets will be better.
Carmelo Anthony verbally agreed to join the Houston Rockets earlier this week for the veteran’s minimum. This comes after spending one year with the Oklahoma City Thunder then, he was traded to the Atlanta Hawks who bought out his $27 million contract.
There have been very mixed reactions to this news. Some believe the move is going to work out extremely well and Melo is going regain his star power. Others believe this move is destined for failure and will doom the Rockets against the Warriors.
I, for one, believe it’ll be somewhere in the middle. I don’t think Melo will suddenly be a star in this league again. I also don’t believe this that adding Melo will tank this team. However, I do believe that this move will be better than the last time Melo and Mike D’Antoni linked up.
Melo and MDA first joined forces on the Knicks back from 2010 until 2012. 2008 was MDA’s first year in New York and in 2010 the NYK traded for Melo. Their first season together was decisively average at 42-40 which was a disappointment.
The 2011-12 season was even worse and Melo supposedly ran MDA out of town after 42 games that same the Knicks go 18-24. Melo told the Knicks brass that it could either role with him or MDA.
But things are bound to go differently this time for this partnership. The Houston Rockets are a vastly different team than those New York Knicks were. Here are three reasons why this sequel will go better than the first time.
