The Houston Texans return to the gridiron against the Chiefs tonight. Let’s take a look at four players that need be paid attention to during the preseason opener.

Houston Texans fans can participate in the joyous event by tuning in at 7:30 on ABC, channel 13 if you’re in Houston. This is sure to be a phenomenal event as it kicks the season for both teams.

The long-awaited return of the boys in deep steel blue is finally here. The Texans are set to square off against the Chiefs tonight. These teams are remarkably similar, young quarterbacks surrounded by extremely talented skill position players. However, the Texans probably have the edge on the defensive end.

Nearly every one of the Houston Texans star players will be participating in tonight’s showdown. The only ones that are scheduled to miss as of now are Whitney Mercilus and Jadeveon Clowney. Mercilus could probably play if it were the regular season. Clowney, on the other hand, is still recovering from surgery but will be back by the regular season.

It will be nice to Deshaun Watson and JJ Watt take the field for the first time in nearly a year. Watson was having a rookie of the year season before his injury, some might even have said it was MVP caliber. Watt has early odds to win his third defensive player of the year.

DeAndre Hopkins seeks to make the most of his snaps tonight as they’ll be limited. This will likely be the case for the majority of the starters tonight. The guys more on the bubble will likely get the lion’s share of the snaps.

It will also be very good see the free agent additions, as well as draftees, make their first appearance in Houston Texans uniforms. There is a lot of hype surrounding these guys and it’ll be great to see them begin to live up to it.

But, as tonight presses on there are a handful of guys that will need to be paid extra attention. Let’s take a look at two veterans and two young players to keep an eye on as the Houston Texans square off against the Kansas City Chiefs.
