Houston Astros: Six reasons not to worry about this team’s adversity
Reason #1: The cycle
Win, Adversity, Conquer, Repeat
Either way, we should take into account one factor that is underrated by our accounts. Every time a Houston sports team has won a league championship, they find a way to win it again the very next year. The Houston Rockets, even without Michael Jordan running the NBA for 1.5 years, are one of seven franchises to win back-to-back titles in NBA History.
The Houston Comets won the first four straight WNBA in the league’s first four seasons. Back before the Super Bowl, the Houston Oilers won the 1960 and 1961 AFL Championships, the first two ever played. Even the Houston Dynamo repeated in 2007 after winning it all the year prior. In addition, the Houston Aeros were back-to-back winners in the Avco Cup in 1974-75.
While some of these teams either defunct or located in other places as of now, what’s also amazing is that they each had faced their own adversity. Now it’s easy to say that every team goes through their fair share of adversity. But only the true champions are the ones that define adversity, shut up the doubters, and win the title by remembering that the game is played on the surface of play.
The Houston Astros have a chance to join this respected group. Winning the 2018 World Series won’t be special than winning it in 2017. But after what’s gone down lately, this trying season could be the ticket of a bigger thrill down the line.
To understand why we must look into the teams mentioned above and discuss the struggles they faced.
