Team defense
The Houston Texans defense was decimated by injuries last season. It saw JJ Watt and Whitney Mercilus go down in consecutive weeks. The team also lost key contributors such as Christian Covington and DJ Reader as the season progressed.
But, it appears that they’ve put all of those injuries behind them. Nearly every single defensive player is healthy and this unit is once again looking like it will be one of the best in the league. Watt is on a mission to gain his fourth defensive player of the year. Tyrann Mathieu is ready and rearing to get his first season as a Texan underway.

The Texans seem to be locked into a battle with the Jaguars are the rights to best defense. The Jags likely win out on that one but, being second place would be great for this team. A middle round pick could secure you an excellent defense that will rack up sacks and potentially turnovers like no one else.
Individual defensive players (IDPs)
If your league plays with IDPs then Watt is the obvious choice to potentially buy “low” on. After two injury-riddled seasons, he looks 100% healthy and ready to reclaim his throne as the league’s best defensive player.
If healthy, Mericlus and Jadeveon Clowney could be good late round fliers to potentially garner a ton of sacks. Mathieu is likely the only defensive back on this team that is worth a pick. He could potentially do it all for your fantasy team, interceptions, sacks, tackles, and maybe a touchdown or two.
Benardrick McKinney and ZachCunninghamm could be worth a couple fliers as well. Both are likely to make a ton tackles this season. They could also both notch a couple sacks or interceptions as well.
Next. Three players most likely to end up in the HOF. dark
The Houston Texans look pretty promising from a fantasy football perspective. Getting a few of these players on your team could help you pioneer a trip to the championship. Hopefully, a strong fantasy season translates to the gridiron.
