Houston Texans: Fantasy football outlook for 2018 looks very promising
By T.A. Mock
The 2018 season is rapidly approaching and that means fantasy football is right on it’s heels. Let’s take a look the Houston Texans fantasy outlook for this season.
As you most likely know, the Houston Texans got bit by the injury bug hard in 2017. These injuries and terrible play by the rest of the team led the Texans to a 4-12. It’s safe to say the 2018 season and, by extension, the Texans’ fantasy football value depend on the team’s capabilities to bounce back from these injuries.
Specifically for fantasy football purposes, the health of Deshaun Watson will be extremely important. His healthy ties directly into the value of the rest of the Houston Texans offensive players. More on Watson in a little bit.
Bill O’Brien loves to run a balanced offense. In the modern day NFL, passing will always outweigh running but, the Texans offense is more balanced than most. In 2017, the Texans ran 458 designed running plays compared to 575 passing plays.
Even though this is already pretty balanced, you may actually see the team try to go with an even more balanced approach. The team will likely incorporate more designed quarterback runs, lots of play action, and misdirection.
The skill position players on this offense are very talented. With Watson back at the helm and (hopefully) an improved offensive line, these guys should have no problem producing stat lines deserving of a fantasy roster spot. So, without further adieu, let’s take a look at what appears to be a very promising fantasy outlook for this Houston Texans team.
