Lineup #4: Small-Ball Crunch Time

What I’d like to see:  Paul, Gordon, Harden, Tucker, Anthony

Small-Ball is probably D’Antoni’s favorite type of lineup.

Fast, small, and hard to stop.

This lineup is interesting for approximately 200 billion reasons. This lineup is a stretch five, ranges between two to four defenders and can make it rain with transition points. This lineup is small and will move quickly.

The defense in this combination is going to be trash; however, countless production by the offensive side can easily produce frustration among opponents, leading toward many bad decisions.

But we all know Capela is one of the fastest centers in this league. He could probably manage to keep up with this lineup for a while and he may provide another option with pick-and-roll at a better rate than Tucker, who for sure will play paint defense, and can get the rebounds. Don’t be surprised if he throws in the expected lineup more than the one I like.  Take a look below for your viewing pleasure.

Expected Lineup: Paul, Gordon, Harden, Anthony, Capela

The Bottom Line

All of these lineups have strengths and weaknesses. But there are many more ways to put a lineup than I had suggested. I still left out some solid players like D’Anthony Melton, though he hasn’t received a contract yet.

This team shows plenty of potential in lineups and matches but at the end of the day, only one question matters.

Which one will enable the Houston Rockets to beat those damn Golden State Warriors?

We’ll have to see about that.
