Houston Astros: Three players to target before the Aug. 31 deadline

The July 31st non-waiver deadline has passed. The Houston Astros made three moves but, there are still moves that could be made before the August 31st waiver deadline.
The Houston Astros have a five-game league over both the Oakland Athletics and the Seattle Mariners. They currently sit in third place in the American League in spite of having the second most wins in the entire MLB.
That did not stop the Houston Astros from becoming complacent though. The team went out and acquired three players for the July 31st non-waiver deadline. The first came when the Astros snatched Martin Maldonado from the Angels. Next, Ryan Pressly was acquired from the Minnesota Twins. Lastly, the Astros swapped Ken Giles with the Toronto Blue Jays for Roberto Osuna.
It was a fairly quiet deadline until the Astros acquired Osuna. This was an extremely unexpected and controversial move. Osuna is coming off of a suspension on Sunday for domestic violence. His court case is still active as well.

But, aside from your feelings on that, the team is set up well for a great second half push for the playoff and beyond. Jose Altuve is set to resume baseball activities on Friday and should be back next week. Carlos Correa has begun his rehab assignment in Corpus Christi.
The Houston Astros are trending up after some injuries. However, the team still could pursue upgrades during the waiver period in August. Justin Verlander was acquiring during this period last year and winning the World Series might have no happened without him.
So, let’ take a look at three guys that Astros could potentially add before August 31st. All three could potentially have the same impact Verlander did, let’s take a look.
