Overall Grade: C

This was a “meh” trade deadline. Similar to last season, only not as pressing. Could more have been done? Certainly. Did more NEED to be done. Not really.

The Houston Astros will be okay. The dog days of summer are clearly starting to get to many of our players. This exact same thing happened last year, with most of the starting rotation and lineup going on the DL for short stints. Some even went on multiple stints.

The team will need to be able to lean on these new guys a little bit as the season goes on. All three were added in key positions that will absolutely help the team out. Time may see this trade deadline grow in favor or even decline more. At the end of the day, this was an average trade deadline that has left a sour taste in the mouths of many.

Regardless, this team is resilient. The clubhouse culture that A.J. Hinch fosters on a daily basis coupled with players eager to win will keep this team in the hunt to go back-to-back. We fans just need to take a deep breath and keep rooting them on to victory!

Maldonado will keep seeing playing time at catcher, keeping Stassi fresh. Pressly will like to build off of his first appearance as an Astro. Osuna will be activated from the suspension list on Sunday as his legal case will continue to unfold. What’re your thoughts on these acquisitions? Drop your grades in the comments below!
