Iman Shumpert, SG, Sacramento Kings

Iman Shumpert has never put up big numbers over the course of his eight-year career. In fact, he likely never will. However, Shumpert will have a place in the NBA for a long, long time. He is too good of a defender and, currently, has too much offensive potential to not have a future in this league.

Shumpert only played in 14 games last season. After missing a few games with knee trouble, he was diagnosed with a tear in his meniscus. After having surgery, he was expected to miss two months. However, he kept having complications and ended up not playing the rest of the season.

But, looking at his last full year with the Cavaliers, it appears Shumpert was finally hitting his stride and settling in as a solid 3-and-D wing. He was shooting 36% from three, his highest total since his sophomore campaign but, he attempted more shots in the 2016-17 season.

If Shumpert can bounce back from his meniscus injury and return to the numbers he was putting up with the Cavs two years ago, he would be a fantastic addition to this Houston Rockets squad. Shumpert will always be renowned for his outstanding defense. If any squad is going to unlock his offensive potential, it’s the Rockets.

Morey would be trying to acquire a year’s worth of Shump’s defense from the Kings. He is currently buried on their depth chart and it likely won’t take much for the Houston Rockets to bring him to Houston. Maybe even in a potential deal involving Ryan Anderson…
