The Houston Astros have something special in their All-Star MVP 3rd baseman. And his show will be renewed for many more seasons to come!

The Houston Astros enjoyed quite the All-Star break. Alex Bregman competed in a Home Run Derby battle of the ages on Monday. Bregman also turned heads on Tuesday night when he won the MLB All-Star Game for the American League with his go-ahead homer in extra innings. George Springer then followed up with a rocket of his own.

Unsurprisingly, Bregman won the All-Star MVP award that came with hardware, as well as a car that he gave to his own mother. Honestly, how sweet is that of him?

What’s even sweeter is the kind of numbers that Alex Bregman has put up as a third baseman in just a few short years. He’s currently on pace to even exceed Derek Jeter, his childhood idol, in many categories. This is true for both the glove and the bat.

Realistically, the bat has been the bread and butter for him. For those wanting to keep count, here are all the things that Alex Bregman has achieved so far in 2018:

  • AL Player of the Week (Awarded on July 1st)
  • AL Player of the Month for all of June.
  • All-Star Most Valuable Player

    More from House of Houston

This is quite the resume that he is building. Reigning AL MVP, Jose Altuve will likely have some competition on his hands this year. But in the company of his teammate, who could possibly be disappointed about something like that?

    Picnic in the Park

Apparently, Bregman has been feeding a lot off of the run that another member of the Houston Astros, Evan Gattis, had in the month of June as well. Although, the bear has been more of an unsung hero, as I highlight repeatedly in my fan blog on him, The White Bear Chronicles. Gattis hit for 30 RBI as well in that month to tie the club record for RBI in the month of June, AND he did so before Bregman.

But I digress, not a single thing should be taken away from this guy. I, for one, certainly wouldn’t dream of such a thing. He’s fun to watch play. In contrast to Gattis, Alex Bregman enjoys having the spotlight on him. He gives the public what they want every time.

Next: The likeliness the Astros build upon their All-Star game success

I have to wonder if his brother, A.J. Bregman, will be the same way when he gets his major league shot. We all know talent runs in that family and is bound to happen sooner rather than later!
