LOS ANGELES – DECEMBER 25: Steve Francis #3 and Cuttino Mobley #5 /

20. Mike Newlin, SG, 1971 – 1979

Newlin played for the Rockets before three-point stats even existed. But, he was a very efficient and productive scorer. He averaged 14.3 points. 4.3 assists, and 3.3 rebounds while shooting 46%. He played in many playoff games, including the 1977 series against Julius Erving and the 76ers in the ECF.

19. Stu Lantz, SG/PG, 1968 – 1972

Lantz is one of the guys that split his time between the San Diego Rockets and the Houston Rockets. He had the best years of his career as a Rocket. In the 1970-71 season, he averaged over 20 points to pair with 5 rebounds and 4 assists. He was a phenomenal player for the Rockets and helped the team transition to Houston.

18. Mario Elie, SF, 1993 – 1998

Elie was also apart of the Rockets two championship teams. He never had great stats as a Rocket, averaging 9.8 points, 3.1 assists, and 2.7 rebounds. But, he might be one of the most clutch players in team history. His “Kiss of Death” is the stuff of legends.

17. Cuttino Mobley, SG/PG, 1999 – 2004

Mobely is one of the best three-point shooters in team history. He drained 37% of them during his six-year tenure in Houston. He averaged 17.1 points per game as a Rocket, with his highest average being 21.7 points.

However, he was a part of some pretty disappointing teams during his tenure here. The lack of team success puts a damper on what was otherwise a pretty fine career in a Rockets’ uniform.

16. Robert Horry, SF/PF, 1992 – 1996

Big Shot Bob’s reputation and legend precede him. He is known for huge, clutch shots deep in the playoffs, something he did throughout his career. He was apart of both championship teams in Houston. However, he never really lit the NBA on fire. He was solid but, unspectacular. He was more clutch than anything. But, that is more than enough to land him in the middle of this list.
