Houston Rockets: The top 30 Rockets players of all time
By T.A. Mock
2. Moses Malone, C, 1976 – 1982
Malone was the definition of a beast. He averaged 24 points and 15 rebounds during his six-year career as a member of the Houston Rockets. He also won two MVPs as a Rocket. He was simply ridiculous to be able to average those types of numbers.

He was a 13-time All-Star, three-time NBA, Finals MVP with the 76ers, All-Rookie team, two-time All-Defensive team member, and eight-time All-NBA team member. I’m not sure anyone else can say they have that kind of resume.
The Hall of Famer is without a doubt one of the best centers to ever play the game. The way he could score and the number of rebounds he pulled was nearly unrivaled. The Rockets retired his #24 as well. He is one of the best to ever do it but, he isn’t the best Rocket to ever do it.
1. Hakeem Olajuwon, C, 1984 – 2001
Did you expect anyone different? If you did, you were playin’ yourself. Hakeem is without a doubt the best player to ever don a Houston Rockets uniform. There just aren’t enough things to say about this man’s career. He had everything, the longevity, the excellence, and the championships.
He averaged 25.9 points, 11.2 rebounds, 3.3 blocks, and 1.8 steals per game in Houston. He just dominated in every facet of the game, it was just unfair. I mean, the man has a move named after him! The Dream Shake is the stuff of legends. The Rockets retired the Hall of Famer’s #34 as well.
Hakeem still is having a phenomenal impact on the game. He continues to mentor young bigs in the NBA, including Capela. The Dream is simply one of the best of all time in the NBA. Any future Rocket will be hard pressed to ever pass him up.
