Houston Rockets: The top 30 Rockets players of all time
By T.A. Mock
The Houston Rockets are coming off of their best regular season in team history. Unfortunately, they fell just short of an NBA finals berth. This team was absolutely historic and it got me thinking. Who are the best players in team history?
The Houston Rockets had their best regular season in team history. They recorded 65 wins to just 17 losses. Alas, the Rockets’ championship hopes were thwarted by the Warriors in game seven of the WCF.
Without a doubt, the 2017-18 Houston Rockets will go down as one of the squads to ever put on this uniform. James Harden has essentially cemented himself as one of the best Rockets ever. Chris Paul began his Rockets legacy, one that the team hopes to continue in years to come. There were also countless role players that are excellent at their craft.
But, let’s jump back to Harden for a second. A couple years ago, it might’ve seemed like a stretch that he is a top three player for this organization. However, it’s just as true now as it was then. He is absolutely a top player, he might be the best pure offensive player in Houston Rockets’ history.
Without further adieu, let’s get down business.
Honorable Mentions
Clint Capela
What a great young player Capela has turned out to be. When the Houston Rockets drafted him out of Switzerland, expectations were low. But, it is safe to say he has vastly outperformed those expectations. He has become an integral part of what this team does. Hopefully, he comes back and it a Rocket for a long time.
Eric Gordon
Gordon is exactly the player the Houston Rockets need to run their current offense. He has nearly unlimited range and can make threes at a great clip. He is phenomenal off of the bench for this team as well. Gordon won the Sixth Man award his first year as a Rocket and has been a finalist the past two years.
Chris Paul
This is partially speculation. However, Paul helped pioneer the best season in Houston Rockets history this past year. He posted great numbers in his first year and meshed with James Harden well. He’ll have four more years to potentially climb this list.
