Houston Astros: Tyler White has been recalled with a shot to stick
The Houston Astros are about to get some more wild animal power to their roster. And it comes in the form of utility man, Tyler White!
The Houston Astros have a stacked minor league system. It’s filled with a ton of talented players, ready to be called on. Now, they are reaching into their AAA Fresno affiliate again to get Tyler White.
Interestingly, paternity leave for players is usually 3 games. But for players not on the 25 man roster, it can take as long as a week. Regardless, we here at House of Houston wish Reymin Guduan all the best and congratulations on the birth of his newborn child.

Shark Attack!
Meanwhile, back to Tyler White. The shark has been making victims of minor league pitching. So far in 2018, “Great White” as he is nicknamed is slashing a very healthy .338/.444/.579/1.023 for AAA Fresno. Additionally, in 228 at-bats, he’s only struck out 35 times. Pretty impressive!
The big question is playing time. Tyler White knows how to play the entire infield. He has even seen some action, however brief, in left field. If the bat doesn’t improve for Jake Marisnick, and White can tear it up early and often, could we see Jake go down instead of White?
Honestly, it all remains to be seen. All things are conducive to how long Guduan would need on paternity leave. Unfortunately, that also doesn’t give Tyler White a whole lot of time to impress. Hinch will have to work him in as much as possible.
However, I’m confident it can be done. I may have been wrong at the beginning of the season when I predicted that Tyler White would crack the 25 man roster. But that in no way means that the shark won’t show his teeth with every opportunity that he gets.
Whether Guduan gets sent back down, JD Davis, or someone else, White has a shot to stick around long-term if he starts off hot. Let’s see what the Great White can do.
Next: Brad Hand should be priority number one
It will be interesting to see how the next series in Kansas City will play out. For Tyler White, here is hoping that everything will be up to date! (That’s a musical reference, for those that may not know.)
