Houston Rockets: Shades of the 2017 Astros
By David Graf
The Rockets and Astros dominated the regular season.
The Houston Rockets had the best record in the NBA this season at 65-17, which was the most single-season wins in team history. They secured home-court advantage throughout the playoffs, yet most would concede that the Golden State Warriors were still the team to beat. All season long the Rockets conquered opponents with threes and defense.
The 2017 Astros went 101-61, which almost topped the 1998 team’s win total of 102, and they clobbered their opponents with the long ball and their pitching. Despite their fantastic results, some still doubted whether the ‘Stros could matchup with the Cleveland Indians and their postseason experience and the National League’s Los Angeles Dodgers.
Their regular seasons were almost too good to believe for Houston sports fans. It seemed as if we were being set up for another epic collapse. Both teams have exceeded expectations.
