As defending champions, the Houston Astros and their fans knew the season was going to be tough to repeat. However, part of the issue comes from within.

Honestly, I look at the Houston Astros 21-15 record with mixed feelings. On one hand, it’s a good record that most teams would kill to have. After thirty-six games, there are seven teams that have won twenty games this season. This is because almost every division is bundled up. You hardly have any teams that emerge until the summer months.

On the other hand, it’s not quite the ideal record that any of us would like to have. There’s no question that our team is better than what the record states. The Astros still have ways to go. But there are flaws in our team that are being seen as of late.

What’s Going On?

I’ve narrowed it down to three big areas where the Astros need to have better performances.

  • Offense
  • Bullpen
  • Handling Other Team’s Best Shots

Let’s examine these three further.
