The Houston Texans are finished with the 2018 NFL Draft.  Now the real deal starts with the undrafted free agents (UDFAs) getting a shot to join the team.

Here’s a recap of who the Houston Texans have selected: Justin Reid (3rd round), Martinas Rankin (3rd round), Jordan Akins (3rd round),  Keke Coutee (4th round), Duke Ejiofor (6th round), Jordan Thomas (6th round), Peter Kalambayi (6th round) and Jermaine Kelly (7th round).

Now that’s all done, incoming general manager Brian Gaine will be tasked to what he calls the “eight round” to try to acquire talent that could possibly make an impact for this team.

There are a lot of unknowns with this crop so they will all hopefully interesting watches through the off season; and, of course, all of them can’t make the team when the roster trims to 53 men in late August.

Another man’s trash is another man’s treasure and the Texans see them as a gold mine.

Who knows?

The team may find that nugget that will take them to the next level with Dylan Cole out of Missouri State being the most prominent UDFA this team hasn’t seen in quite some time.

Take a look at the list below, you may know or are a fan of these players!

As it stands currently, here are the current (but unofficial) UDFA’s the Texans have signed according to Patrick Starr of State of the Texans, some will be signing and some will be on a tryout basis and I’ll do my best to differentiate between the two if that information is available.  I’ll continue to update the list as more info comes in!

First and foremost, although I personally don’t know Pat, I’d like to wish him a speedy recovery from a horrible automobile accident that he sustained months ago.  He’s a terrific media member for the Houston Texans and I’m appreciative of him sharing this information — he’s been a source of mine for years — so that I can relay it to you.

Here they are:

Anthony Coyle, OT, Fordham

Jaryd Jones, OT, Pittsburgh

K.J. Malone, OT, LSU (NBA great Karl Malone’s son)

Terry Swanson, RB, Toledo

Mason Gentry, DT, SMU

Drew VanMaanen, FB/TE, Wyoming
