The Houston Texans stood pat with their three selections in the third round. With those picks, athleticism reigned supreme.

For his first draft, Houston Texans GM Brian Gaine executed his mission to get faster and stronger. Three of the teams biggest positions of need were offensive tackle, tight end, and defensive back. Those are the three holes they filled Friday night.

After skipping out on the first two rounds to rearrange the quarterback position last year, the Texans made quick work of the third round.

With the 68th pick, the Texans selected safety Justin Reid out of Stanford University.

The Texans acquired the 80th pick from Seattle in the Duane Brown trade. With it, the Texans selected offensive tackle Martinas Rankin from Mississippi State University.

With the 98th pick, a compensatory pick, the Texans selected tight end Jordan Akins from the University of Central Florida.

As of now, the Texans hold five picks for day three. One in the fourth round, 103rd overall. Three in the sixth round, 177th, 211th, 214th overall. And one in the seventh round, 222nd overall.
