The Houston Astros Week 4 Recap also has the biggest blunder of the season, which took place on Thursday against the Seattle Mariners. Evan Gattis hit a check swing that he didn’t like to Kyle Seager at third base. Seager than threw to Robinson Cano at second in what was supposed to only be a double play to get out Jose Altuve and Carlos Correa.

Angrily, Gattis trotted back to the dugout thinking that the inning was already over. Because of this gaffe, the first baseman for Seattle, Daniel Vogelbach applied a tag to Gattis, and a rare triple play transpired.

Needless to say, it was pretty rough. El Oso Blanco even told the Houston Chronicle after the game that anger clouded his judgment. He even bellowed to his teammates asking if they wanted to talk to him about it. No one wanted to, not even Skipper A.J. Hinch.

Regardless, the bear-bull has more than redeemed himself since. He did get an RBI single in that game on Thursday, plus another two on Sunday against the Chicago White Sox. Thankfully, one of those came in the form of a 2 out, 0-2 count homer off of Hector Santiago.

Gattis finally got one over the fence, so expect his confidence level and seasonal numbers to increase from here on out. As I pointed out in my last post, once the calendar turns May, the bear bombs will be much more frequent!
